For us developers or IT departments installing Valentina server is easy. My solution is also meant for single users or companies that may not have a dedicated IT department. So I want to simplify as much as possible.

Has anyone integrated the installer for Valentina Server into your own app? How complicated is this?

@Valentina persons: have you thought about doing a one-click Docker container for macOS and Linux?

I had seen those instructions. Valentina typical they are rather terse. May I borrow or buy your code for the installation of Valentina Server?

Hi Beatrix,

About the Docker - yes, that's what we planned. I already tried to run Valentina Server in the Docker container and it works fine.

Cool. Do you have any information about the timing? Do you need someone to test the Docker container?

You may. I only have an InnoSetup script (very slightly adapted from the Valentina Wiki) for Windows and a plist file for MacOS. What do you want ?

@Francois: first link from Goggle is https://opensource.com/resources/what-docker . Docker is like virtualisation for apps. In former times - for instance - you had to install MAMP, then your app and you had to configure everything. Now you download the Docker container, start it like an app and you are finished.

The plist file for macOS would be good.

No timing information yet, but we're working on it.

Yes, thank you, we'll let you know once we'll push an image to the Docker Hub for testing.

I uploaded a test image from my account (official images will be uploaded from the organization account)
sergeypashkov/test-valentina-server-linux

A license can be easily added using the docker cp command.
Just go to the directory with license and execute:
docker cp license_lin_xxx test-valentina-server-linux:/opt/VServer/licenses

After the restart a new license should be applied.

Note: I noticed the container logs window in Kitematic doesn't show all outputs sometimes, so I had to check server logs directly in /opt/VServer/vlogs directory.

Cool! I'll check the Docker container out in a couple of days as I'm in the middle of a launch.
